The Tomorrow People

It’s the early 70’s. Post Doctor Who. Pre Star Wars. And the Tomorrow People was the bees knees. John and his friends, a secret hideout in the London Underground, Tim a talking computer and jaunting. All the elements that made a great kids TV series (I’m not sure if these elements made the reworking and US TV series but they made the Tomorrow People!)

But here’s the thing. Now they can do anything on screen. But the Tomorrow People came out before we could believe a man could fly. And in comics your fave TV shows were very different. They could go anywhere, do anything, have any budget they wanted on paper and in your mind. And the Tomorrow People, appearing in the junior TV Times ‘Look-In’ had it in spades. And when you didn’t even have video to record your favourite TV shows these strips were a lifeline between series too, when they appeared or when you collected them all together and read them in one go when the comic strip story ended.

And here’s your chance to do that all again, now the series is no longer with us (except on DVD, of course, and audio adventures). This is a lovely collection (let’s ignore the typo on page 224 – we have all been there!) and I cannot wait to get my teeth into book 2.

With extras from Roger Price, wonderful covers, pin-ups, features and more if you can get your hands on this book do so. Find it in ComicScene Newsagent once stocks become available here.
