The Last Day of Rain: Chapter Three

Do you enjoy science fiction and resonate more with the world-building and story parts of it?

For about two years, I have been creating a miniseries of science-fiction comic books set in London in 2091, where it does not rain at all. I know, I know. With the weather these days, it all sounds rather unbelievable. But be careful with what you wish for. ☀️

Page from chapter one of The Last Day of Rain.

Carol lives in a cloudless London, where the last days of rain are long gone. In pursuit of the dream of seeing rain again, she follows a data theft suspect, and rejected lover, towards a rich underground neighbourhood she despises. In the process, she will have to face a family past she would rather have forgotten forever.

But what’s it really about?

“Yeah, yeah, it looks like a mildly interesting story with some drawings that are a little too colourful, perhaps. If I were to get it, what’s in it for me?”

That Last Day of Rain happens in 2091. It features a shy artist-engineer in love with the tools of his trade:

Art and bot sculpture of the Clyde Arc in Glasgow; page from chapter three of The Last Day of Rain.

There’s an underground city, built south of the river Thames, where Surrey Quays used to be:

Shiba Town neighbourhood view; page spread from chapter three of The Last Day of Rain.

A main character who won’t take being broken up with via holographic letters as an answer:

You’re the bad idea; page from chapter three of The Last Day of Rain.

And thoughts about segregation in a world where we should be tackling problems together:

If this sounds like something you might be interested in, chapter three is available today, having been funded last February by a crowd of AWESOME Kickstarter backers.

You can order it in digital or physical format from my online shop, and it’s also available via Comix App, the ComicScene Plus library and GlobalComix.

Buuut this isn’t the end: there are two more volumes to go until the story ends. You’re very welcome to follow the journey on the website or socials:

Thank you for reading,
Claudia
