Dan Dare – The Evil One

The 15th volume of Titan Books Dan Dare stories is to be released 9th April 2019 and can be pre-ordered on Amazon now.

This volume reprints, for the first time ever, the first two years of strips by David Motton and Keith Watson. We are particularly looking forward to the evil that lurks under the Blackpool Pleasure Beach!

David Motton took over writing Dan Dare from Eric Eden in 1962 to 1969, making him the longest serving Dan Dare writer ever.

Keith Watson joined the Frank Hampson studio in 1958 and was the longest serving artist on the strip, producing work in colour and black and white from 1962 to 1969. He drew the character again in the new relaunched Eagle in the 80’s.

This announcement is hot on the heels of the new Dan Dare exhibition which opened its door this week at the Atkinson in Southport, celebrating the 100th birthday of Frank Hampson, the man who created Dan Dare. We will be marking this event in the Christmas and New Year Issue 5 of ComicScene UK with articles on Digby, Dan, Eagle Editor Barrie Tomlinson ‘My Perfect Comic’ and the new Eagle alongside features on Starlord, Superman, Star Wars, Starblazer and, of course, StarFleet.
