The ComicScene website has changed. Our news and expanded features and articles can be found in our ComicScene Culture Review substack. This is currently emailed to over 6500+ subscribers. It’s free to subscribe but there is a paid subscription option for only £4 a month, £20 for the year. Thats £1.66 a month! Less than a Starbucks coffee. Please subscribe here

If you do it before the 10th February you will also be able to download over 3500+ pages and £500 worth of ComicScene material in digitial (once it’s gone, it’s gone!)

Why the change?

The brutal truth is we have had to make significant cost cutting measures to continue supporting comics into our tenth year. Brexit, Covid, cost of living, cost of materials, break down of distribution networks, social media algorithms, increased postal charges and tariffs have all had an impact. That’s why we value everyone who becomes a paid subscriber to support the work we do.

Also we have found that social media algorithms don’t work in the same way they did ten years ago – so less coverage for comic creators and you don’t see the latest news. We reckon that the best social media (Facebook) attracts about 13 people to the website. However our substack is read regularly by 50% of our 6000+ subscribers, helping to support creators and informing comic fans about what is available with more views than all the social media platforms put together. You can read our ‘news’ articles for free for a week and then they go behind the paywall. Our expanded features (like you would read in ComicScene Magazine or History of Comics series) will in some cases be free or behind the paywall. So we are also moving away from using social media to promote our news stories – it will all be through the substack.

The ComicScene website will remain as a great free comic reference website and compliment to our substack news section.
