We have already shared a few comics coming to a newsagent near you in January on our ComicScene socials, including the Beano and 2000AD.

Next year celebrates 200 years of the Glasgow Looking Glass, considered to be the first comic book. Colin Maxwell is planning a celebratory comic and exhibition at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow.

From Hibernia the ‘Editors Cut’ is the seventh in the Comic Archive Series and is due out in the Spring. Featuring interviews and articles, rare and never before seen art from people like Kelvin Gosnell, Kevin O’Neill, Brian Walker, Garry Leach, Rian Hughes and more.

The next Fleetway Files is Running Man from Action, backed up with Hold Hill 109, all written by Steve McManus with art by Horatio Lalia and Jim Watson. Get your Hibernia books here.

The Treasury of British Comics have will be celebrating 60 years since the debut of The Sludge! in the pages of Lion Comic! Featuring Robot Archie, pre-orders are now open: https://bit.ly/41jEuwu

The epic saga of The Trigan Empire reaches its penultimate volume next year, as the Treasury collect all the strips published between 1977-1980.

The Rise and Fall of the Trigan Empire Volume Six is available for pre-order today – featuring a new cover by Chris Weston! https://bit.ly/3Vypasf

Starting in Shift Volume 3, they will be serialising Terminal Man by Oliver Frey (with words by Kelvin Gosnell).

In collaboration with Fusion Retro Bools, they will not only run the 48 page first story, but also the 12 pages of the second unfinished series – which will then be completed by Shift.

More news soon on the sensational creators that will pick up the storyline from Oli, who sadly passed away in 2023.

Originally serialised in Crash and Zzap magazines…
When the spaceliner Arcadia crashes in a planetary system unknown to man, a very strange hero steps up to lead the surviving passengers in a quest for their safe return to Earth – Cross: computer, virus, man…

The kids comic Shift It will return in Spring. The new volume of David Lloyds weekly digital comic Aces Weekly is about to start. Both featured Tara Togs and ComicScene may have a new Tara book out this year but meantime you can still pick up ‘Silence of the Unicorns’ in WHSmith and now back on Amazon. We also hope to work with Stref on Peter Pan early in 2025. Another all ages book is, of course, Rupert Bear who celebrates 90 years later in 2025.

From 2000AD in January – CAN you defund Judge Dredd? IS a better world possible? The landmark, critically-acclaimed collection by Rob Williams, Arthur Wyatt & Henry is out on 29 January – pre-order here https://bit.ly/45uCRfs

Rok of the Reds by John Wagner, Alan Grant and Dan Cornwell is to be serialised in the Judge Dredd Megazine from January.

All the other Treasury and 2000AD books currently on the schedule for 2025 can be found here.

It’s also 50 years of Battle and to celebrate ComicScene will be running a Kickstarter for the successor to Charley’s War by Pat Mills, Gary Welsh and Phillip Vaughan. Watch out for Ragtime Soldier pre launch page in January.

Commando, Viz, Quantum, the Phoenix and Panini Marvel comics remain staples of the newsstands. Long gone Eagle also celebrates 75 years in April and you can get the celebratory issue of ComicScene again on Amazon here

Plenty of Young Graphic Novels, Manga,US and European comics to enjoy during 2025. I particularly like the DC App and their new DC Go programme for mobiles. Check it out – it’s a bargain for all DC Comics to read on your iPad.

Some great Crowdfunders and indie comics to come from the likes of Sentinel, B7 Media, the 77, Lew Stringer, Neil Roche, Self Made Hero, Avery Hill, Tripwire, Scratch, Time Bomb Comics, Heavy Metal, Metal Hurlant and Blue Fox Comics to name just a few. We hope to share more info (and titles) into 2025.

Plus Shift and ComicScene join forces with the newsstand comic Atomic with some great indie creators on board. Again more details soon!

It’s a great collection of comics but it’s not an easy time. Not only are consumers impacted by the cost of living and comics may be down the shopping list but cost of running websites like this, paper, distribution, postage costs and postal changes impact on the industry every day. But if you can spare a few bob it always helps any creator. Here’s the ComicScene Shop website , which also links to the Shift website. Thanks
