Heart of Steal. This was included on the Comic Scene digital stack. Another dystopian future. This one involving the stealing of a heart from a semi robotic gang lord. the heart is being stolen to help Rene the younger brother, and stolen under the noses of her two best friends one now a copper and the other a gang lieutenant.
Fast paced and drawn in an engaging developing style. I really enjoyed this. I hope to find the others

Comics 259 and 260. Parts 2 and 3 of Knight Terrors. Free on DC Infinite…sadly part 4 is not here for free!
A great story, with Insomnia, who’s looking for Doctor Destiny’s dreamstone. Only those who can’t sleep are able to function so this forces a bizarre B(g)rave and the Bold! The goodies are Damien Wayne, who’s trained himself to never sleep or dream, a reanimated Wesley Dodds and Deadman in Batmans body. This shouldn’t work as a team up but it does. Brandon/deadman acts as narrator and there are references galore to other superheroes. All in all an intelligent if slightly bizarre story. I liked it

The Lad Himself: Hancock
by Stephen Walsh & Keith Page
What a book. The best biography I have read of Hancock. Great art mixed with a great narrative about an incredibly complex comedian/actor.
Hancock influenced by those before him but his radio, TV and stand up and movie work truly unique.
A strange life and maybe one of the greatest British graphic novels.

Had a busy few weeks including today ferrying people around and tidying up. This was a bonus as I’ve now got a lovely big bag of comics to read after being throughly tidy!! When to find the time though.
First today is the best of 2000 AD from May 2020. This was given to me when I visited the Kaboom exhibition at Rugby Library (a most excellent display I hope lots of people visited).
The comic is standard stuff. Solid JD, RT, SDs and a lovely Judge Anderson story by Arthur Ranson. His work is truly beautiful and touches me the same way that Alex Ross or Frank Hampson did. 8/10 for the case story really
Second was Time Bomb Comics Spectrum. Three stories one from Captain Scarlet – stuck in the jungle. Nicely drawn and scripted (although the parachute was a bit off and at one point the guard seems mahoosive), second is Space Precinct again we’ll drawn and scripted. Good little story reminiscent of a Dredd one off. Finally was a Terrahawks story again a slightly more cartoony style but really well drawn and again a nice story. Overall a really solid comic and I look forward to more. However two complaints 1. Why those shows? Possibly two of his least known entries in what is a stellar back catalogue, I’d love to see Fireball XL-5 in the next issue. I’m guessing that Thunderbirds and Stingray might have different licensing arrangjehts perhaps? The second issue today is the every issue of Spectrum in Smiths today was wet! Most in one corner. Some more so. The dude behind the counter apologised but said it happens sometimes… you’d think that being around since 1792 231 years of being a newsagent they’d have worked out a way of keeping paper dry?? It really was like it or lump it tbh!! With that customer service here’s to the next 231 years!! 7/10
Finally when tidying up emails I saw this Helium on the 2000ad newsletter. Oh god this was good. Great story of a future earth where people live above and beneath sky and sea, in huge airplanes and subaqueous cities. Beautifully drawn by Disraeli and written by Ian Edginton. This was a page Turner (well scroller) and genuinely left me on a cliff hanger I so want more. Luckily I won’t have to, as this is republished online having been originally printed in 2015 my comic Wilderness years, as a taster for a new series in 2000ad which I haven’t got round to reading yet.
Great stuff from the creators of Scarlet Traces and writer is Brass Sun. Here’s an interview https://2000ad.com/…/interview-exploring-the-scorched…/
Absolutely divine here’s a Hollywood handshake and A Ten from Len 10/10 lovely lovely comics.
