How are you? Welcome back to ComicZine after the holiday season. We are busy working away at producing the return of ComicScene Magazine. You can pre order for November here

There are now over 125 comic creators in the ComicScene Comic Industry Directory. They will also be listed in the magazine. If you are involved in the Comic Industry, as an indie creator or pro, add your details here. If you do it before the end of September we will include you in the magazine too.

Don’t forget for a one off yearly fee of £30 (or pay monthly £3.50) you can get access to over 100 indie comic books and magazines at the ComicScene Digital Comics Library. More titles are added all the time – it’s great, particularly if you live outside the UK and helps avoid huge postal charges for the books. Take a look at a free preview here

Each week we present in ComicZine FIVE THINGS FOR A SATURDAY. This week five kickstarters you should be supporting!

  1. Check out all the latest kickstarter news at our website but here’s some you may have missed. Issue 14 of the ‘Sentinel’ is entitled Heartbreak Spotel from Alan Holloway and Paul Spence. It is a hilarious, gorgeous one-and-done 64 page sci fi comedy comic based on Fawlty Towers. It has less than a week to go and is already funded. Pledge here – and don’t forget you can read all back issues of the Sentinel in the ComicScene Digital Comic Library.

2) Probably the most successful comic kickstarter in history it is the nice and accurate adaptation based on the beloved, world-famous book ‘Good Omens’ by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, adapted by Colleen Doran. With nearly £2,000,000 in sales it doesn’t really need your support so go pledge and then back another of our recommendations (or two!). Pledge here

3) Kev F Sutherlands 4th Shakespearian graphic novel, following his takes on Macbeth, Hamlet, & Midsummer Night’s Team is Richard The Third. This will appeal to fans of the multi million selling Dogman! It’s funded, has just under a week to go and you can pledge for it here . You can see more of Kev’s work in the Kirknewton Story in the ComicScene Digital Comics Library, as he also did the comic workshops with the school kids for that. If you are looking for a comic workshop check out our Comic Industry Directory for creators in your area.

4) The United: Going Underground is a new psychedelic crime noir comic set in a world of superheroes, magical science and corrupt governments! It’s from Johnny Cannon (who can be found in our Comics Industry Directory). Already funded with just over a week to go. Pledge here.

5) The much requested collection of issues 1-4 of the Gravestown comic, plus two brand new, unpublished Gravestown strips is on kickstarter now with just over two weeks to go. Roger Gibson and Vincent Danks, creators of Harker (which appears in the ComicScene Annual 2021, which you can read in the Digital Comic Library), bring you this great looking book which is fully funded. Pledge here

That’s it for this week. We hope you can support the kickstarters above. We will let you know about more kickstarters next week in ‘ComicZine’ and watch out for future titles including Pilgrim Issue 2, Oxygen, Gateway City Vol IV and Thunder Child 2. We will also let you know the Top 20 Indie Comics you are reading in the ComicScene Digital Comic Library.
