ComicScene Review: 2000AD Prog 2345 and Rebellion News

Our long summer holiday has meant we have neglected giving you the latest news from 2000AD (except from Luke Williams reviews on ‘Kevin O’Neill Apex edition’ here and his look back at ‘Ro Busters and ABC Warriors’ here ). Let’s change that shall we.

The latest Prog features a Dan Cornwell cover. He’s steadily becoming the Dredd artist of his generation with shades of McMahon and Ezquerra blended in and this image is stunning. Read more about the development of this cover here. Inside Tom Foster is becoming a fan fave, his Dredd artwork perhaps closer to Cliff Robinson than Brian Bolland, but accomplished none the less. Dredd also appears in ‘Hershey’ with a meeting everyone has been waiting for, so that is worth the entry alone. It’s blunt, not emotional.

2000AD has had a strong line up for a while now. No characters that perhaps will last the 40 ‘test of time’ years of ‘Slaine’ that was celebrated this week but 32 pages of consistent thrill power. 2000AD has announced ‘Slaine the Horned God’ is to be repackaged again in an oversized book format that will have collectors salivating. Details here.

Next week it’s a one off ‘2000AD Regened’ which I tend to enjoy (I do get that 8 year old kids prefer their comics grittier but perhaps their parents don’t!)

In other news it has been announced the forthcoming ‘Nemesis’ collection will be oversized too. Find out more here.

For those of you who read in digital you can forego the forthcoming ‘Robo Hunter’ in colour collection and get a £10 digital package. These stories are a hoot in two volumes here.

In shops along with your Prog you have the Meg. That’s another review for another time. To end our 2000AD review and Rebellion News round up here’s the Meg cover 459 by Dylan Teague to look out for.
