It’s a well known fact that the reason there is SO many great comic creators from Scotland is because the climate is perfect for writing and drawing comics. What else can you do if the sun doesn’t shine and the wind blows up a hooley on a regular basis.

It’s good to see a writer break out from his own small press comics and make it into mainstream comics. Colin Maxwell has done just that with his debut Commando story Five Little Soldier Boys.

Manuel Benet provides able art duties on an enjoyable mystery story featuring bookworm Private David Rhys and his comrades as they enter a ghostly gothic house near the French Alps. Are they being watched?

It’s a strong debut and we are pleased as punch for Colin who we hope will be writing more in the near future. Meantime you can enjoy his one off story in the ComicScene Annual 2021 ‘Captain Commando’. Order it here
