ComicScene Review: Sentinel

I finally got down to making myself a cuppa and having a read of a special delivery from writer Alan Holloway and artist Ed Doyle. The launch issue of Sentinel (great name) is a Starblazer/Commando format size 64 page comic. Behind a Ian Beadle cover there promises to be a dose of Sci Fi this month with others genres to be explored in future issues.

So is it any good? Well, the simple answer is yes. A funny story with enough action and a twist in the tale to please any comic fan. No spoilers but keep your eyes on the interludes. The humour is just right, the black and white art adds to the old school feel of the package and can I just say one of the best lettered publications I have read for a while!

If you a fan of Han Solo and Chewbacca then the partnership between Doyle and the short furball that is RHLSTP could be right down your alley in this and future stories. The next issue looks like a horror theme with Misty Moore so don’t expect Sentinel not to experiment with other genres, which is healthy and adds to the fun!
