Supanova Media: wishing upon shooting stars

The Panharmonion Chronicles: Times of London graphic novel is slowly but steadily garnering praise from readers and professional media artists from around the world. This recognition from a multicultural readership, is especially important to creator Henry Chebaane who endeavours to depict a broad range of protagonists in his work.

The cast for The Panharmonion Chronicles includes characters from India, Africa, South-East Asia, North America and several Indigenous nations, beside Europe and the British isles.

Beneath the epic sci-fi thriller, the story does not shy away from hard questions and big issues that are increasingly relevant in today’s world.

So it is encouraging for a young indie publisher like Supanova Media to be endorsed by enthusiastic fellow artists from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds.

Of particular note is the early support from Bhasker Patel, a much loved British actor, who has appeared in over 100 films since 1981, including Indiana Jones and the temple of doom (1984), James Bond Goldeneye (1995) Thunderbirds (2004), and Snowden (2016). He’s also been a familiar face on TV screens, acting in many shows including Coronation Street, Only Fools and Horses, Holby City, Casualty, Jewel in the Crown and Doctor Who. He is also well-known for playing the character Rishi Sharma for 12 years in the prime time soap drama Emmerdale

Bhasker is an active patron in several charities including When you wish upon a star and The Zuri Project, which supports volunteering opportunities in African countries and provides scholarships for African nationals.

In his own words: “The Panharmonion Chronicles is an unflinching view on the many shades of racism, imperialism and patriarchy that pervade History. It’s a compelling read and beautifully illustrated, which helps navigate the complex, layered narrative. The story also blends science and historical events with quirky takes on pop culture.”

(N.B. the series is illustrated by veteran British artist Stephen Baskerville)

The Panharmonion Chronicles: Times of London book will make a cameo appearance in a forthcoming indie feature film titled “Reel Encounters” by talented Camden filmmaker Jasdip Sagar who is also an early supporter of the graphic novel.

Jasdip is an award-winning visual effect artist for the likes of Dredd (2012), Iron Man 3 (2013), 300: Rise of an Empire (2014), Avenger: Age of Ultron (2015) and many more.

His film “Reel Encounters” embarks on a journey that challenges the existence of a mysterious force connecting us all. This urban sci-fi comedy evolves from a pranking alien film to a profound exploration of quantum connections.

Henry Chebaane is associate producer, production designer and actor in the film, which features several well-known British actors, including Jon Campling, Lucy Speed and Andrew Lancel. The production has already garnered some early praise from Camden to Cannes, and the film will now be released this summer on Amazon Prime.
